JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man is locked up in the Craighead County Jail after police said he nearly hit another car while driving drunk.
According to court documents, it happened on Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. A Jonesboro police officer spotted Gary Truxler driving down Southwest Drive when the officer spotted him weaving in and out of the lanes of traffic and nearly hit a car.
While pulling Truxler over, the officer said Truxler kept placing the vehicle in and out of park. According to the officer, Truxler finally got out of the car, but stumbled, needing help from the officer.
Truxler reportedly admitted to being drunk and the officer said he found a 30-pack of beer in Truxler's SUV.
Truxler was immediately arrested and taken to the Craighead County Jail. During a search, the officer said he found meth or cocaine in a cigarette package.
Truxler was on state and federal parole at the time of his arrest. According to the Craighead County Sheriff's Department, he is charged with parole violation, possession of a controlled substance and DWI.
