FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) -

One man was arrested during an investigation into a church burglary.

Forrest City police officers were called to the Church of God on Whitaker Street in Forrest City Thursday just before midnight in reference to a burglary. Police said they found one door unsecured and two windows shattered. They also found blood where the suspect had entered and throughout the church.

As officers were responding, they found James Davis of Hughes walking nearby and detained him as the investigation continued.

Police said they found Davis had "several lacerations" to his body and blood on his hands while talking with him.

Officers also found several pieces of equipment missing from the church in a ditch along Martin Luther King Drive near where Davis was detained.

Davis was then arrested for commercial burglary, theft of property and other misdemeanor charges.
