LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - The petition to legalize alcohol sales in all of Arkansas' 75 counties will appear on the November ballot, according to the Arkansas Secretary of State's Office.
Secretary of State Mark Martin confirmed Friday that the organization, Let Arkansas Decide, obtained enough signatures to get the issue on the ballot.
The amendment needed more than 78,000 signatures to proceed; however, Martin's office certified more than 87,000 signatures.
Martin said many signatures are still being counted and the total "verified signatures" may increase.
"The Secretary of State has certified the proposed amendment to the County Board of Commissioners. It will be Issue No. 4 on the November 4, 2014 ballot," the news release stated.
If approved, the measure will legalize the sale, manufacture and transportation of alcohol throughout Arkansas. Right now, 37 Arkansas counties are dry.
