Man steals pack of bacon on National Bacon Day

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

August 30 was National Bacon Day, and one man thought that was the perfect time to commit his crime.

A Jonesboro police officer was called out to Bill's Fresh Market on Johnson Avenue around 9:20 Saturday morning in reference to shoplifting. The manager of the store told the JPD officer that one of the store's employees saw a man stealing a package of Wright's bacon from the store.

The manager said the employee chased the suspect outside the store and down East Johnson, but couldn't catch up with him.

The pack of bacon cost $12.00.

Police officers don't have a suspect at this time, but the employee described the man as being around 6-foot tall, with short black hair and a medium build.
