A Better Region 8: Keeping A-State at home

Recently, A Better Region 8 focused on a big decision facing A-State. The St. Louis Sports Commission offered the Red Wolves a significant amount of money to move its 2015 home game against Missouri to their city.

We took a stance that the game should stay here in Jonesboro to support fans and local businesses.

Last week, A-State announced the single largest personal gift commitment in its history, a $5 million contribution by the Johnny Allison family that will be used in conjunction with A-State's "Centennial Expansion" project. It includes a complete overhaul to the stadium press box. The face of the stadium will be redesigned to include 42 luxury boxes, 20 suites and 300 club seats in its revenue-generating areas.

The most exciting thing is the university plans to have it ready when Missouri comes to town on September 12, 2015.

They're keeping the game here in town, but more important, they're making A-State better in the process. That's a win-win. Congratulations to Chancellor, Dr. Tim Hudson, System President Dr. Chuck Welch and Athletic Director Terry Mohajir. You did the right thing. Keeping the game here makes this A Better Region 8.
