JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The elected officials in one Region 8 county are working to be prepared in the face of an emergency.
The Mitigation Planning Committee met Monday. Emergency, county, and city leaders gathered together to draft a new, comprehensive, all hazards mitigation plan for all of Craighead County.
"We look at everything from hazmat situations in our counties and cities to our schools, and our response time to natural and man made disasters," said Jonesboro's 911 director Jeff Presley. "This is all about being prepared."
Presley said they will be doing site surveys and setting up some websites with drop boxes for the public to view the plan and give opinions.
Once the proposal is finished, it will be submitted to the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management for approval.
