JONESBORO -- E. Boone Watson spent most of her life providing service to others.
She dedicated countless hours to Jonesboro's youth.
Roger McKinney visited the center this morning.
"She taught school here in Jonesboro for over 40 years. After she got done with that, she worked with the head start program,"said McKinney.
Now, this community is honoring the memory of a woman who gave so much of herself to others.
Memories of a rich history line the walls of the E. Boone Watson Center.
Visitors says it provides lessons from the past, and hope for the future.
"It just feels good to know that everything will be preserved. We need to keep it in writing. We need to tell the story, someone has to tell the story, and that is what this is about,"said visitor Sonja Williams.
Visitors say that story has chapters of harsh struggles, glorious accomplishments, and cherished childhood memories.
"It just feels good to know that there is a building preserved on this spot so that people can come and see what we were about,"said Williams.
Visitors say E. Boone Watson would be proud to have a building with such a deep history dedicated to her, and her memory.
