Police investigating reported armed robbery in hotel parking lot

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are searching for three men suspected of robbing a traveling salesman at gunpoint on a hotel parking lot.

The robbery happened at 8:30 Wednesday morning at Hampton Inn, 2900 Phillips Drive.

The victim told police he was loading his car in front of the hotel and preparing to check out when he was shoved from behind.

When he turned around he found a Hispanic male pointing a black, semi-automatic pistol at his head, according to the initial police report.

The victim told officers the suspect had a blue bandana covering the lower half of his face.

The suspect did not say anything to the man; however, the victim said the gunman yelled in Spanish to two other masked men who were with him.

One of the other men then ran up and took the victim's briefcase.

The victim told police the case contained more than 600 prescription pills, including 240 hydrocodone and 240 oxycodone pills. The case also contained three pens valued at $3,000, an Apple Macbook, and an iPad.

Before driving off, the man said one of the suspects pulled out a knife and jammed it into his rental car's front passenger side tire, deflating it.

The victim described the suspects' vehicle as a newer model four-door car, possibly a Hyundai. He said a piece of white plastic or paper covered the license plate number.
