City Reminds Hunters That Firearms Can't be Discharged in Jonesboro City Limits

JONESBORO, AR - The city of Jonesboro is reminding hunters that it is illegal to discharge a firearm within the city limits.

Craighead County Sheriff Jack McCann says a number of complaints have been filed over shots fired at deer within the fringes of the city.

Bow hunting is also illegal in the city.  The sheriff says one hunter told him that he'd been hunting deer for years inside the Jonesboro limits but didn't know there was a rule prohibiting it.

McCann says the city does not have an anti-hunting ordinance, it just has a law against discharging weapons.
