September Teacher of the Month: Mrs. Jessica Haire

BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT)-Mrs. Jessica Haire from Brookland Elementary School has been named the September Teacher of the Month.

Haire grew up in Jonesboro and went to school in the Brookland School District. She attended Arkansas State University for Early Childhood Education. She said teaching was her calling.

“I've always had kind of the itch or the bug to be in the school system,” Haire said. “I was just not happy with my office job at the time and I thought you know it's now or never.”

She has been teaching for six years and said she has learned a lot from her students. Haire makes it a point to break down her lessons so every child understands.

“It can be a struggle at times you just have to learn a balance and how to stay organized and how to differentiate your instruction to meet all learning abilities,” she said.

Haire is also very interactive with her students. She makes up fun activities that allows her students to move around and socialize while completing their lessons.

“I want them to know that they had a first grade teacher who loved them dearly,” Haire told Region 8 News.

Hair is currently pursuing national board certification.
