'Fill the Boot' with JFD on Saturday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

If you see a Jonesboro firefighter on Saturday, don't be alarmed. Instead, help them fill the boot!

Nearly half of the JFD force will hit the streets this weekend. They'll be stationed at the intersection of Red Wolf Boulevard and Nettleton Avenue.

JFD is raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. According to  Captain Paul Pittman, JFD has “filled the boot” for the MDA for nearly a decade.

“Whatever we raise and give to the Little Rock office stays local. And it doesn't go anywhere else and it doesn't even go into Tennessee or Missouri. It all stays local, so whatever whatever we contribute we help people right here in our own state, in our own city," Pittman said.

The International Association of Firefighters is the largest contributor to MDA in the United States.
