United Way kicks off campaign on Friday

The United Way of Northeast Arkansas kicked off the campaign with a 4-foot by 20-foot banner went up on the crosswalk on Union in downtown Jonesboro.

Director of the United Way Nanette Heard said they want people to know an important fact when they donate.

“We want to make sure that everybody realizes that United Way does stay local,” Heard said. “We do send 1% to the worldwide organization, but the rest stays here.”

The United Way works to help fund nonprofit organizations with a focus on education, income or health.
