JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Some customers of City Water and Light went without water for a few hours late Sunday night into early Monday morning after an old water line broke, according to Kevan Inboden.

Inboden told Region 8 News that an old water line near the Doublebee's convenience store and Pizza Works Pizza on Harrisburg Road ruptured, spilling hundreds of gallons of water. Crews had to shut the water off to repair the line, which took approximately three hours.

According to Inboden, the six-inch PVC pipe was installed years ago and has thinner walls than the pipes CWL currently installs in Jonesboro. Inboden said the plastic pipe was not damaged by construction. He also called the break a "routine" situation in older lines.

Inboden said customers in the immediate area did not have water in the overnight hours on Sunday and some customers in the area experienced lower water pressure.

The break happened at around 11:30 Sunday night.

Inboden said the break has been repaired and things are operating normally.
