NEW ORLEANS, LA (astateredwolves.com) – The Arkansas State University women's cross country team finds itself in a familiar position as the Red Wolves maintained the 10th-place in the latest 2014 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I South Central Region Cross Country Rankings<
The rankings, which were released this Monday (Sept. 22) by the USTFCCCA, are the second installment this fall and include results as of Sept. 22.
A-State, which is coached by Jim Patchell and Kyle Chandler, occupied 10th place in the week one rankings (Sept. 15) after being listed eighth in the preseason.
The Red Wolves, who will be participating in the Rhodes College Invitational this Saturday (Sept. 27) morning in Memphis, Tenn., after being idle last weekend, have registered a pair of second-place showings in both of their two meets to date this fall. A-State placed runner up at the season-opening BROOKS Memphis (Tenn.) Twilight Classic (Aug. 30) before the Red Wolves' harriers turned in a second-place performance at the Saint Louis University's Big River Forest Park Festival meet (Sept. 12) in St. Louis, Mo.
The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team strength with current season results in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.
