Burglary suspect held at gunpoint before being arrested

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Mountain Home man was arrested after the potential victim of a burglary held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said his office was notified around 9:45 a.m. Friday to the report of a man caught burglarizing his mother's home on Baxter County Road 69. The caller said he was holding the suspect at gunpoint in the front yard.

The suspect was identified as Bryan Keith Sutterfield, 31, who was out of prison on parole.

Evidence at the scene indicated Sutterfield had pulled off a screen and got into the home through a window, Montgomery said. The caller caught Sutterfield inside the home carrying a box of jewelry and detained him while calling police.

Sutterfield was taken to jail and charged with felony residential burglary and theft of property. Bond was set at $50,000 on those charges. He is still awaiting an appearance in Baxter County court.

He has a no bond hold from the Arkansas Department of Community Correction for a parole violation.
