BONO, AR - One man is dead today as the result of a two-vehicle accident this morning on the new U.S. 63 Bono bypass.

Witnesses at the scene tell K8 News that the accident involved an 18-wheeler and a car.  Paramedics and firefighters with the Bono Fire Department were called to the scene, as well as an Air-Evac team.  However, contrary to earlier reports, no one was airlifted from the scene, as the victim was already determined to be deceased.

The accident occured at approximately 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of the bypass and state highway 230.  State Police investigated the accident, but have not yet released the name of the victim.  He was described to K8 News as a white male, who was the driver of the car.

A second accident of minor proportions in the same vicinity occured a short time later, but it is not believed to be connected to the fatal accident.

The two accidents hampered the flow of traffic on the new bypass, and authorities re-routed traffic through Bono for a time.
