Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Williams Baptist College volleyball squad won its fourth straight conference game in thrilling fashion with a five set victory (27-29, 26-24, 19-25, 25-17, 15-10) over Freed-Hardeman University. The matchup was held Tuesday night in Henderson, Tenn.
The Lady Eagles had a balanced offensive attack in the victory. Harley Strayhorn and Jameea Ward each had a season-high 16 kills in the match. Kaillie Ralston also posted a season-high with 14 kills in the contest. All three WBC setters notched double-digit assists. Jordan Harvey had 22 assists, Taylor Barton contributed with 15 assists and Jessica Crow added 11 assists to round out the offensive statistics.
Defensively, libero Shelby Upshaw had a game-high with 16 digs and 37 receptions. Ward had two block solos and seven block assists. Emily Umbaugh had four block assists for Williams (12-9, 4-2 AMC).
FHU (7-9, 2-4 AMC) was led by Allie Moss who had a game-high 20 kills. Emily Humphry had 25 assists and Michelle Bennett had 11 digs.
The Lady Eagles will return home for a non-conference matchup against Central Baptist College on Tuesday, October 14th. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start in the Southerland-Mabee Center.
