Two men arrested for Poplar Bluff burglary

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) -

Two men were arrested in connection to a burglary in Poplar Bluff.

Officers were called to Lester Street around 3:50 Friday afternoon. A mother was alone with her 3-year-old son when a man cut the screen out of a front window and came in. The woman grabbed a golf club and confronted the man.

The intruder showed her his knife, yelled, and jumped out through the window.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, only a laptop computer was taken.

Later that night, a locating device installed on the computer showed that it had accessed the internet at a house on West Spring Street. When officers responded to that house they found the stolen computer and arrested 53-year-old Douglas Herzog.

According to the Poplar Bluff Department, Herzog said he bought the computer from Nick Alcala.

On Saturday, 39-year-old Alcala was arrested for burglary, armed criminal action, and felony stealing. He was taken to the Butler County Jail, where he is held on a $250,000 bond.

Herzog was charged with receiving stolen property, and taken to the Butler County Jail.
