JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Four homes in Clay County were destroyed Monday as a strong line of thunderstorms moved through the Region 8 viewing area. According to the Clay County Office of Emergency Management, four homes were badly damaged north of Highway 62 north of McDougal.

Clay County OEM Coordinator Alan Vaughn said no injuries have been reported, but crews are still assessing the damage. Vaughn said multiple homes had trees on top of them.

The area was in a tornado warning when the storm passed through northeast Arkansas and entered southeast Missouri. Clay County Sheriff Gerald McClung said residents in the McDougal area reported a tornado touched down for a short period of time before going back up in the clouds.

Region 8's Andrew Wilson was in Mississippi County, where Miranda's Video was destroyed in Osceola. The owner of the store is trying to salvage everything in the store and is sending it to be stored down the road. Osceola Mayor Dickie Kennemore said two city buildings were also destroyed. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has been released.
