DECEMBER 10, 2004 - Posted at 4:00 p.m. CST

FORREST CITY, AR - The University of Tennessee at Memphis will be utilizing its communications capabilities to benefit deployed Region 8 soldiers and their families.

Beginning Monday in Forrest City, family members will have the opportunity to communicate with loved ones in the military in Iraq via video communications.  The service is being provided at no charge in conjunction with the Freedom Calls Foundation, a non-profit organization that has deployed state-of-the-art technologies to facilitate the connections.

The video calls are offered from the U.S. military installations at Camp Cook near Baghdad and Camp Fallujah, in Fallujah.

Services will be provided during certain hours beginning Monday and continuing through December 23, and from January 4 through January 7.  More information may be obtained by calling 901-448-4325, or on-line at www.utmem.edu/outreach

The service will also be offered at other Mid-South communities in west Tennessee and northern Mississippi.
