Hardy man charged with felony manslaughter

HARDY, AR (KAIT) - A Hardy man was charged in the death of a man who was killed in a car accident on Bluff Road in Hardy in May, 2014.

According to Third Judicial Prosecutor Henry Boyce, John Earl "Marty" Terrell, 46, faces manslaughter charges, which could carry a ten year prison sentence if he's convicted.

According to Boyce, Terrell struck another vehicle and killed the passenger, Roy Whetstone.

Court documents state that police responded to a two-vehicle head on collision on Bluff Road. Documents also state that "it was apparent that Terrell was driving left of center when the accident occurred by identifying the skid marks leading up to the point of the collision."

Terrell was arrested for DWI drugs after the accident and he told police that he had a gun and drug paraphernalia in his truck.

The report also stated that Terrell's drug test "revealed the use of methamphetamines, marijuana and benzodiazepines."

Whetsone died nearly two months after the collision, according to the report.
