JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - An Arkansas State University student has been dismissed from the university golf team after being charged with first degree sodomy involving a 15-year-old boy in Kentucky, according to the university.

Tennessee television station WSMV reported on the sexual assault Wednesday. The television station spoke with police who said the assault was recorded and posted online using a social media app. The teen is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Dayton Jones, 20, was among those arrested in the case along with two 17-year-old boys and a 19-year-old man.

Jones, a junior at Arkansas State University, was charged with sodomy, promoting a sexual performance by a minor and use of a minor in a sexual performance, according to the Associated Press. He is also charged with distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Jones is being held in the Christian County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 22.

ASU Assistant Athletics Director Jerry Scott confirmed to Region 8 News Friday that Jones was dismissed from the golf team. Scott said the university is still gathering facts and will release more information if, and when, it is appropriate.
