Jonesboro man arrested for DWI after car accident

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after police responded to a single-vehicle accident on Craighead County Road 906, according to an incident report filed Thursday night. The police report also suggested a five-year-old child was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

According to Deputy Bobby Swan, Richard Dean Graham, 53, of Jonesboro was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, DWI 3, driving on a suspended license, refusal to submit to a breath test, obstruction of governmental operations and careless and prohibited driving. His passenger, April Goza, 36, of Jonesboro was arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor, public intoxication and obstruction of governmental operations.

According to the incident report, Officer Bobby Swan responded to County Road 906 shortly after 9:00 Thursday night in reference to a car accident. When Swan got on scene, he found the vehicle in the ditch.

During the investigation, Swan stated Goza has slurred speech and watery eyes.

Goza, who said she was the driver, “stated that they had been mudding in the field when she lost control and her blue 1998 Ford Explorer went into the ditch.”

Swan reported Graham also had watery eyes. According to the incident report, Graham stated during initial questioning that Goza had been driving.

Swan also reported Graham eventually admitted to driving the vehicle.

Graham was given a court date of October 21, 2014. The child was turned over to the Division of Children and Family Services.
