RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The Randolph County Sheriff's Department needs your help solving a string of thefts across the area.
According Sheriff Gary Tribble, the sheriff's department and the Pocahontas Police Department have received numerous theft reports in the past few weeks. Among the items stolen: trailers, ATVs and a concrete saw.
According to police reports, a Walnut Ridge man reported his four-wheeler was stolen on September 25. The man said someone broke into his shed on Highway 67 South, near the Randolph and Lawrence County line. That ATV is valued at $13,000.
A Pocahontas man reported another theft a few days later. The man told police someone stole his ATV sometime between September 26 and September 27. The Mule ATV also had a chainsaw on it. The man's dune buggy was located more than 75 yards away from his house. The thief drove it into a ditch. Police say it was covered in dew and they weren't able to locate any of the suspect's prints.
On Tuesday afternoon, police received another theft report. The victim told officers he was eating lunch at the China Star when someone stole his concrete saw and cooler.
Later Tuesday afternoon, police responded to a theft at the Day's Inn Hotel in Pocahontas. According to the incident report, someone stole a trailer with a Bad Boy mower on it. Police began searching for the thief, believed to be driving a newer model Dodge or Chevy truck, along Highway 67. Police were unable to find the truck.
