JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police officers from all over Craighead County came together Friday to honor one of their own.
The Exchange Club of Jonesboro held it's annual Police Officer of the Year banquet Friday afternoon.
Craig Rickert was a speaker at the banquet, and helped announce this year's winner, Officer Timothy, "TJ" Burns of JPD. Officer Burns recently saved an elderly woman who had driven onto some train tracks while the train was coming.
“It was one of those calls you get to and the hair starts standing up on the back of your neck. You're not sure what's going on,” Officer Burns said. “As soon as I got up there I could tell something was wrong. The adrenaline kicked in from there. I could feel the tracks vibrating and knew I had to get her out of there quick.”
TJ has been with JPD for 5 years.
