Mission Of Hope Shelter Lending a Helping Hand During The Holidays, And Throughout The Year.

December 13, 2004 -- Posted at 10:30 a.m. CST

HARDY -- When you walk through the doors of the Mission of Hope shelter in Hardy, you are always greeted with a warm hello, and a welcome smile.

Mission Hope is a food pantry, homeless shelter, and thrift store.

Volunteers say shoppers at  Hope's Closet call it the Saks of Hardy.

Volunteers at the shelter served up a traditional holiday feast on Sunday.

All of the proceeds go towards buying food to stock the shelves not just for the holidays, but throughout the year.

The Mission of Hope serves a need for me, and I serve a need for them. I've never worked so hard, and have had so much fun as I have had since I have been here,"said one volunteer.

The doors to the food pantry are open on Thursdays from nine until noon.

At first glance, shelves at the food pantry may look stocked, but by the end of the day on Thursdays, they're empty.

The volunteers at the shelter, and supporters in the communities unite to hold the hands of those who have fallen while traveling the winding road life leads us all down.
