ASH FLAT, AR - Authorities in Sharp County are on the lookout for a person who shot and wounded an Ash Flat woman Saturday evening.

At 8:57 p.m. Saturday, 911 operators received a telephone call stating that a woman had been shot at the Foxfire Apartment complex in Ash Flat.  When deputies arrived at the scene, they found 45-year-old Prescilla Partridge suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri, where she is reported in satisfactory condition.

According to a police report, Partridge "had left her residence on Friday night to stay with a friend who lives close by.  Saturday night they decided to go shopping at Wal Mart, but first had to stop by her residence to pick up something.  Her friend waited in the vehicle while she went inside, he saw someone moving around in the apartment, thinking it was her, and after about ten minutes the porch light began flashing on and off and she came crawling out the front door and around the sidewalk to a neighboring apartment, where the occupant called 911."

The victim told police she did not know her assailant, and police have not established a motive at this time.  The investigation is continuing and residents in the area are being encouraged to exercise extreme caution and keep their doors locked, at least until the case is resolved, according to Sheriff Dale Weaver.  The incident is being jointly investigated by the Sharp County Sheriff's and Ash Flat Police Departments.
