Weekend Shooting Under Investigation in Sharp County; Caution Urged for Ash Flat Residents

DECEMBER 13, 2004 - Posted at 4:51 p.m. CST

ASH FLAT, AR - Authorities in Sharp County are investigating a weekend shooting incident in Ash Flat that left a 45-year-old woman hospitalized with head wounds.

A 911 call was received at 8:57 p.m. Saturday, and deputies were dispatched to the Foxfire Apartment complex in Ash Flat, where they found Prescilla Partridge suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  The victim was airlifted to a Springfield, Missouri hospital where she is reported in stable condition.

According to a police report, Partridge spent the previous evening with a friend and was dropped off at her apartment Saturday night to pick up an item before leaving to go shopping.  The report states, "Her friend waited in the vehicle while she went inside, he saw someone moving around in the apartment, thinking it was her, and after about ten minutes the porch light began flashing on and off, and she came crawling out the front door and around the sidewalk to a neighboring apartment, where the occupant called 911."

The victim told police she did not know her assailant, and authorities have not yet established a motive at this time.  The investigation is being conducted by the Sharp County Sheriff's and Ash Flat Police Departments, and Sheriff Dale Weaver is urging Ash Flat residents to use extreme caution and "keep their doors locked until this case is resolved."
