State Education Board Names Interim Facilities Director

DECEMBER 14, 2004 - Posted at 7:20 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state Board of Education's search for a school facilities director failed to turn up a qualified candidate.  The board has voted to appoint the state Education Department's chief of plant services as interim director while it conducts a new search.  Dave Floyd will fill the post until a new director is found.

Act 90 of this year's special session on education created a new Division of School Academic Facilities.  The division will assess school buildings and equipment statewide and to make a report and recommendations for upgrades to the governor and the Legislature.
