IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Izard County deputies arrested two Region 8 residents on Monday, after they forged checks to make purchases.

According to a news release by the Izard County Sheriff's Department, Tammy Martinez, 37, bought two chainsaws in Melbourne using forged checks.

Deputies said Martinez then pawned off the chainsaws at a local business.

The Norfolk woman was taken to the Izard County Detention Center in lieu of $2,500 bond.

In an unrelated case, deputies arrested Jody Lovell, 35, on forging charges too. The sheriff's department said Lovell forged checks at business in Melbourne using the bank account information of an unidentified Cushman man.

Lovell is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

Both Martinez and Lovell are charged with theft of property in addition to the felony forgery charges. Lovell is also charged for felony as a habitual offender.
