MELBOURNE, AR (KAIT) - Another sexual assault charge has been added to a long list of charges a former church pastor and teacher is facing.
According to the Izard County Sheriff's Department, an additional felony charge of second degree sexual assault was filed against Robert Norton, 52, of Sage on Dec. 10.
A student of the Izard County Consolidated School District accuses Norton of inappropriately touching her about two years ago when she was in his fourth grade class, the department stated.
Since being originally charged in June, Norton now faces a total of 37 sex-related felonies involving children.
According to the department he was charged with 24 counts of of distributing, possessing or view matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child in June.
In early October, Norton was charged with three counts of second degree sexual assault involving former students. By late October, he was charged with nine additional counts of distributing, possessing or view matter depicting sexually explicit conduct with a child following a forensic examination of his computer by the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.
