Halloween meth arrest in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

According to Jonesboro police, officers were called out to the 3500 block of Harrisburg Road in reference to a woman sleeping in her car.

When officers approached the car, they found Jackie Dorton asleep in the front seat, according to JPD.

Police said she told them she worked a night time job and had been arguing with her mother.

JPD said when asked to search her car, Dorton said, “There's a couple roaches in there.” Referring to the end of a marijuana cigarette.

Dorton told officers there was nothing else illegal in the car.

When police searched the car, they found an empty makeup container in the console with a small amount of meth inside, five grams of marijuana in her purse along with a glass pipe suspected in the use of meth, according to the report.

Police said Dorton was placed under arrest and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center where she was charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and both a misdemeanor and a felony count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
