Body found in burned auto at western Arkansas park

KNOXVILLE, AR (AP) - The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says a body has been found in the trunk of a burned vehicle at Cabin Creek Park in Knoxville in western Arkansas.

The sheriff's office says in a news release that Knoxville Fire Department firefighters discovered the body in the trunk of the BMW after putting out the fire about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The release says the body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy and identification and that the license plate and the identification number of the vehicle were destroyed by the fire.

The sheriff's office and Arkansas State Police are investigating and federal authorities have been notified because the park is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park.
