Jonesboro, AR--Lauren Payne Reports

Region 8 Battered By Severe Winter Weather

December 22, 2004 -- Posted at 10:30 p.m. CST

JONESBORO -- Winter storms into Region 8 with a vengeance.

After several hours of sleet, freezing rain, and heavy snow, that started early Tuesday afternoon, road conditions across the area quickly turned treacherous.

For now, the streets are fairly quiet in Jonesboro as folks wait out the first winter storm of the season.

For the people who are out and about, there are 2 must have items on the list.--de-icer, and gasoline.

While this weather is wreaking havoc for some, "I just come from Blytheville this afternoon, and man it was terrible,"said one motorist.

Others say it's nothing short of the perfect gift for the holiday season.

"I love it, I absolutely love it. Everyone saying that it's terrible, I can't wait to get on it and drive it......just waiting on it,"said one Jonesboro resident.
