JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are investigating another case where an aggravated robbery took place in a parking lot.
Police were dispatched to 300 Cate Avenue Thursday night at 8:35. An investigating officer stated he met with three victims and a witness to the robbery, according to the JPD incident report.
One victim told police they closed up the business for the night and were leaving when a black man, about 30 to 35 years old, wearing all black and a mask approached two of the victims in the parking lot.
The man then pointed a gun at the head of one of the victims and demanded money, according to the police report. The victim gave the man a total of $100.
While the gun was still pointed at the victim, the man demanded money from a second victim. When the second victim said they had no money to give, the man ran through a hole he had kicked in the fence at the back of the parking lot. Police were told a loud noise was heard outside before the victims left the business.
A victim told police they believed the suspect had been watching the building for "several days."
A camera was pointed at the parking lot, but the owner of the building told police it did not record.
The robbery is similar to another that happened Tuesday in a Jonesboro parking lot.
"The offenses are similar, however, we can't say at this time if they're going to be related or not," said JPD Detective Jason Simpkins.
In both cases, the victims gave the suspect what they wanted--money. Simpkins said there are precautions people can take to stay safe.
"Try to stay in a well lit area, try to be aware of your surroundings," he said.
