Brookland Middle School collects food for local kids

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 students made a difference in other kids' lives Saturday, one Pop-Tart at a time.

The Brookland Middle School Student Council asked for food donations that kids can prepare themselves, such as Pop-Tarts, crackers and mac and cheese.

With the community's help, they filled about six carts outside of Bill's Fresh Market at Hilltop for the Food for Kids program.

"It feels really nice because we get to lend a helping hand," said Madison Reynolds, the school's Student Council Executive. "It just feels good to know you're helping someone out there. It really does help them and I'm just glad to be a part of it."

Madison and her classmates thanked every donor with a special cheer, complete with grocery bag pom-poms.
