ASU Dietetics program hosts food drive

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The ASU Dietetics program hosted a food drive Saturday outside Centennial Bank Stadium.

The donations they collected will go to ASU Care, a university organization that partners with the college's Department of Social Work to help those in need.

With the holidays just around the corner, the organization wanted to do a big push to help them provide for the families they support.

Briana Barrentine, vice president of the Student Nutrition and Dietetic Association, said they just want to do their part.

"I think we kind of had an idea of maybe 5000 cans but we are also taking cash donations so we can purchase perishable items like meats and eggs and things that they can give to the people as well,” Barrentine said.

The ASU Dietetics program has been a part of the university for two years.
