HOXIE, AR (KAIT) - Students at the Hoxie School District joined forces to put together a Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday.
Students and faculty invited the public to come out and celebrate the lives of those who have sacrificed so much.
Retired Sergeant Major Charles Cagle of the Army National Guard spoke to students about his service.
Sgt. Maj. Cagle said support from the community is absolutely vital to the well-being of all soldiers.
"To know that they are not forgotten," he said. "That their selfless service and duty and determination and dedication is remembered and able to be passed on."
Elementary principal Tracy Gates said she hopes their students take away what the day truly means.
"We wanted to provide a program not only to bring honor to veterans, but also educate our kids about what's going on and what Veterans Day is all about," Gates said.
Around 900 students attend the Hoxie School District.
