JONESBORO, Ark. (11/12/14) – Arkansas State men's basketball coach John Brady announced Wednesday that Dallas Kimball High School product Christian Davis has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Red Wolves.
The 6-foot-6, 200-pound swingman averaged 18 points last year and nabbed District 6-5A Newcomer of the Year honors as a sophomore. He shot 80 percent from the free throw line and pulled down five rebounds a night. He is one of four players off the Dallas Kimball High School to sign with a Division I school during the early signing period.
"We are extremely excited about the signing of Christian Davis," Brady said. "He brings length, athleticism and an ability to score the basketball to our team. He also will be on a high school team at Kimball that may be the best in the state of Texas. Winning is something that he is accustomed to doing and he will be an excellent addition to the program."
Davis projects as an above average shooter from beyond the 3-point line and excelled this past summer with the Dallas Showtyme AAU team. He averaged 16 points and seven rebounds during the AAU season and helped lead the team to two tournament championships.
The A-State men's basketball team, which achieved 19 victories for the second season in a row this past 2013-14 campaign (19-13 overall record), will tip off the 2014-15 regular season Nov. 17 against Tennessee-Martin and represents the first of 13 regular-season home contests for the Red Wolves.
