JACKSON COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Residents in Jackson County learned about identity theft Wednesday afternoon.
The Center on Aging for Northeast Arkansas partnered with the Arkansas Attorney General's Office and ASU-Newport campus to host an identity theft workshop.
Director of Education with the Center on Aging Beverly Parker said the groups wanted to teach residents the tools they need to protect their identity.
"If they get your driver's license and your social security number they can do any number of things," Parker said. "Also important is your Medicare number. Many people feel like they have to keep that with them."
Parker also said it's very important to safeguard your checks and debit card.
