NEW MADRID CO., MO (KAIT) - -

Prosecutors charged a New Madrid County man in two sexual exploitation cases from Rhode Island.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department, Smithfield police in Rhode Island told them they were investigating a person living in Morehouse, Missouri.

Smithfield investigators said Jayson Luther, 22, not only exchanged nude photographs with a 14-year-old girl, but bought adult toys for her and watched her use them online.

The Morehouse Police Department and the sheriff's department got a search warrant for Luther's home and obtained two cell phones and a laptop.

According to police, the phones were sent to the Southeast Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, who found evidence that supported what Luther was accused of in Rhode Island.

The task force found he also had pictures of a second girl, who was 15 years old. Investigators sent that information to Rhode Island as well.

New Madrid County Prosecutor Andrew Lawson charged Luther with felony of sexual exploitation of a minor and felony of enticement of a child.

Prosecutor Lawson said additional charges are possible.

He was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail on a $40,000 cash or surety bond.
