Early season storm drops snow on north Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An early season snowstorm dropped up to five inches of snow in parts of north Arkansas and left roads slick.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock said Monday that five inches of snow was recorded near Bruno in Marion County after the Sunday storm while 3½ inches accumulated in Cleburne County and three inches in both Izard and Conway counties. Little Rock received just a trace snow.

Schools in north-central and in western Arkansas canceled classes Monday. The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department reported icy roads from northeastern through north-central Arkansas and in western sections of the state.

Weather service science and operations officer Chris Buonanno (boo-NAH'-noh) said sunshine is expected today, but that temperatures will remain cold with highs from the upper 20s to near 40 degrees.
