JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - When you're layering on the winter clothes during the next few months, remember to keep your pets warm also.
Sergeant Larry Rogers with the Jonesboro Animal Control said keeping your pets warm when the temperature drops is important. He suggests you bring pets inside or provide an outside shelter.
He said remember to include proper bedding.
“Blankets, straw, or hay in there as bedding…it actually creates mold and mildew that affects the dog and it's harmful to the dog,” Rogers said. “We suggest cedar chips.”
Rogers also suggested using plastic food dishes instead of metal ones. He said you should use warmers under your pets water dish to keep it from freezing.
