LITTLE ROCK, AR - Authorities say at least eleven people died as a result of traffic accidents stemming from icy road conditions that resulted from last week's winter storm.

Police report at least ten deaths in the days before Christmas and an eleventh person died Monday on an ice-slick Jefferson County road.  The storm began the afternoon of December 22, dropping sleet before depositing several inches of snow in central and northern Arkansas as the temperature dropped far below freezing.

Four of the fatalities occured on Christmas Eve.

Temperatures were balmy in many parts of the state Tuesday and most remaining patches of ice melted away from major roadways.
