POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E is preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Wednesday, Nov. 26, and Sunday, Nov. 30, officers will take part in the 20-Mile Trooper project. A trooper will be posted every 20 miles on Interstates 55 and 57, according to Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E.
The goal of this project is to place a trooper close to a motorist who needs assistance and to enforce all traffic violations that can lead to unsafe interstate conditions.
Also in the month of November, Troop E will take part in the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Project (MCSAP).
During the project, the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will focus on finding commercial vehicles being unsafely operated and drivers committing dangerous moving violations.
This project is part of an effort to promote safety and to reduce the number of traffic accidents.
