Johnson to be Laid to Rest this Afternoon in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR - Funeral services for Jonesboro Police Chief and former Craighead County Sheriff Floyd Johnson, who died Monday in his sleep at his south Jonesboro home, have concluded at Jonesboro's Emerson Funeral Home.

Memorial services took place at the Emerson Funeral Chapel of Jonesboro, with burial with full police honors to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park.  The Jonesboro Police Department's Honor Guard is participating in this afternoon's ceremonies.  Active pallbearers include current and past members of the JPD, Arkansas State Police and Craighead County Sheriff's Department.  Jonesboro Mayor Hubert Brodell is one of many honorary pallbearers, as well as Craighead County Sheriff Jack McCann and state senator Jerry Bookout.

Johnson had served as Jonesboro's Police Chief since 1993, and previously served eleven terms as Craighead County Sheriff, from 1967 to 1988.
