CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The following information was provided by the Craighead County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, Nov. 25. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Breaking or entering

Randy Oxford, Brookland Middle School principal, reported someone broke into the school and stole a computer valued at $800 from the science lab class. Surveillance video showed a male and female arrive at the school in a dark-colored SUV at 3:53 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20. Video showed the suspects checking doors inside the middle school hall then going into the science lab classroom. At 4:30 a.m. the vehicle left the school.

Theft of services

Craighead Electric reported a named suspect, whose power had been turned off, used a piece of metal and a bamboo pole to switch the electricity back on at the transformer on County Road 780. A deputy attempted to contact the suspect at his home, but was told the man was at work.

Theft

Craighead Electric reported someone stole approximately 1,200 feet of copper, valued at $2,500, from service poles on Country Road 762 sometime between Nov. 18 and 20.

Drug charges

Chance William Brooks, 23, of Jonesboro was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) following a traffic stop Tuesday morning at 4:35 on County Road 744. After discovering Brooks was on active probation, the deputy conducted a search of Brooks' vehicle and reportedly found ammunition and drug paraphernalia. The deputy then followed Brooks to his home to conduct a probation search where a small baggie of methamphetamine and a marijuana “roach” was reportedly found. Brooks was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center. Brooks' girlfriend, 26-year-old Jessica Chamble of Jonesboro, was cited with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and released.
