NEWARK, AR (KAIT) - One football team is spending the holidays helping others. Cedar Ridge players spent part of their day passing plates instead of footballs.
These young athletes helped prepare and serve people a Thanksgiving meal at the Hazel Edwards Memorial Methodist Church in Newark.
Coach Danny Brustrom said he wants his players to learn the value of helping others. "It's a great bonding time for our team and it also teaches them that it is important to give back to their communities," Brustrom said.
"I thought it was a great idea to give back to our community because they support us so much and during our football season they come out to every game," said right tackle Jake Butler.
"I thought it was a good idea," said running back Keyler Northcutt. "I thought coming out here and helping the community would be really great and giving to people that might not have things and get them some food."
A mix of junior high and senior high players volunteered to help from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
