Sheriff: Body found near Marked Tree, foul play suspected

MARKED TREE (KAIT) -

The Poinsett County Sheriff's Department said they are investigating a suspicious death near Marked Tree.

Sheriff Larry Mills said they received a call around 6 p.m. Saturday night about a truck on fire on a levee near Marked Tree.

Sheriff Mills said when deputies got on the scene, they found a body. He said he could not say whether it was a woman or a man at this point of the investigation or where exactly the body was found.

Deputies then called Arkansas State Police for help and investigated Saturday night and throughout the day Sunday.

Sheriff Mills said they do suspect foul play in this death and say they are looking for persons of interests. However, he said he could not release the name of the people they were looking for at this time.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner and Sheriff Mills said he plans to have more information about this on Monday.
