CCSO blotter: Deputy finds 'very malnourished' dogs chained up at abandoned home

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

The following information was provided by the Craighead County Sheriff's Office on Monday, Dec. 1. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat or horse

On Saturday, Nov. 29, a deputy responding to a complaint of possible trespassers at an abandoned home on County Road 234 found two dogs chained inside a shed. According to the incident report, the dogs were “very malnourished.” One of the dogs could “barely stand up,” the deputy reported. A neighbor who initially called in the report agreed to take care of the dogs. The deputy stated the residence where the dogs were found had "burned some time ago" and the shed is the only structure still standing. According to the report, the shed does not have a wall on one side and "is mostly open to the winter elements."

Theft

A Jonesboro woman reported on Friday, Nov. 28, she discovered an iPad and 2 Verizon Ellipsis tablets were stolen from her purse after she gave 2 men a ride.

A Jonesboro man reported on Friday, Nov. 28, someone stole his medication out of his mailbox located in the 3300-block of County Road 531. The victim told deputies he believes the theft occurred while he was incarcerated in the Craighead County Detention Center.

On Sunday, Nov. 30, a Lake City man reported someone stole 2 boats, valued at $3,500, from a shed behind his home in the 1600-block of CR 690. He also reported someone knocked a hole in the wall under his back porch and entered his home, but nothing was taken.

On Saturday, Nov. 29, a Monette man reported a $10,000 power unit and generator for an irrigation pivot was stolen from a field on County Road 549.

Drug charges

Stacy Marie Robertson, 35, of Brookland was arrested Saturday, Nov. 29, on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine or cocaine following a traffic stop at the intersection of Main and Jackson Streets in Jonesboro. She was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center to await bond.

Reckless driving

Dennis Zachary-Taylor Penn, 20, of Jonesboro was arrested Sunday, Nov. 30, on suspicion of reckless driving and purchase/possession of intoxicating liquor by a minor. According to the incident report, a deputy was dispatched to a disturbance call on CR 339 regarding a car doing donuts and driving recklessly fast up and down the road. The deputy located the car at a nearby home and spoke with Penn who “admitted to drinking and driving and doing donuts in the intersection.” According to the report, Penn agreed to a portable breath test which registered a blood alcohol content of .16. Penn was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a bond hearing.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle

On Friday, Nov. 28, a Brookland woman reported her boyfriend borrowed her 1991 Jeep Wrangler and refuses to return it.
